Natalie Raven and workshop artists performing in the Maker Heights landscape, where Rame Projects is sited

Performance artist Natalie Raven developed and delivered a three day residency around site specific performance, textiles, and feminisms. Six artists across the UK joined her and developed new collaborative work. At the end of the residency, the artists performed to an audience of local residents, academics, and art audience. This was followed by a discussion group chaired by Professor Roberta Mock. With thanks to University of Plymouth for funding this project.

Situating my residency at Rame Projects contributed to its success. Its setting is perfect for relaxed but concentrated periods of making, thinking, talking, presenting. As Rame is run by artists, they understood our needs and went above and beyond to help with the residency and public facing outcomes, including documenting performances, reaching local audiences, and generally making everyone feel welcomed and supported. It was brilliant that the local community got involved not only as audience for our performances but as participants in the discussion group too. Rame Projects and Maker Heights is a very special place!
