CAMP (Contemporary Art Membership Plymouth) – is a new member-led network for the creative and visual arts community in Devon and Cornwall, including artists, producers, curators and arts writers. CAMP is artist (& arts worker) led, and is rising from the glowing embers of Plymouth Arts Centres’ highly successful, but now sadly defunct, PAC Home network.

In July 2019 20 members of CAMP camped for two nights and three days at Maker heights campsite, home of Rame Projects. Their mini residency included artist show and tells, arts activities including metal casting, existential watercolour painting, campside storytelling, social ecology discussions, and morning yoga.

On behalf of CAMP, I’d like to say a huge thank you. The space and its surroundings were exactly what we hoped for and enabled us to do a range of activities that would have been extremely difficult to pull off elsewhere. The combination of studio space, campsite and walking distance to the beach really were conducive to CAMP’s DIY, fun, accessible yet critically informed approach. Thank you for supporting artists in such an inspiring location!
